Narcolepsy
Posted in Uncategorized on July 8, 2008 by everestwuI don’t remember if I wrote about this or not, but I’ll do it again.
I think I’ve got a problem with sleeping.
I’m the type of person who, if tired, WILL fall asleep, regardless of whatever it is I’m doing. I could be in class, playing a game, driving (yeah, it’s scary), anything at all.
It’s not even a question of willpower. If I HAVE to stay up, the only way I can do it is through pumping large amounts of energy drinks into my bloodstream, typically red bull or amp.
If I don’t submit myself to the power of caffeine and B vitamins, I might as well be a giant stuffed animal with drool stains.
And this sleepiness occurs whether or not I’ve had enough sleep (yes, I’ve experimented by getting the same exact number of hours of sleep: 7, 8, 9, and 10 hours for 2 weeks, no difference). The only thing that getting more sleep affects is how moody I am.
The worst part is if I’m in the middle of doi…
Tubing
Posted in About Me, Rant with tags tubing on July 7, 2008 by everestwuI went tubing for the first time last weekend.
For someone who typically doesn’t spend much time outdoors other than for jogging or parkour, I really enjoyed it, but to understand exactly why it’s odd for me to even remotely like tubing, you have to know a couple things:
First of all, I’m not very keen on lakes.
They’re murky deathtraps filled with monsters, killer moss, and who knows what else that’s just sitting on the bottom of the lake, waiting for some pair of unsuspecting legs to dangle into its territory before ripping it to shreds.
Second, I’m just not very water-activity inclined.
I’m a horrible swimmer (childhood asthma really gets to me when I have to breathe in odd rhythms), dislike the taste of salty water, and generally get shoved and kicked around waves like I’m the towelboy at a Laker’s game.
Third is my general disdain towards nature.
I mean, I like seeing nature and hearing nature, as long as there’s a glass shield separating me from it. Call me spoiled, but I enjoy my A/C far too much to step out into the now ninety-fucking-seven degree weather we’ve been having only to immediately be attacked by some over-sized beetle that feels the need to find my foot, regardless of how much I move it, and try to crawl up my leg as fast as possible. In the meantime, its mosquito and spider friends are trying to piss in my face, and no matter how much I try to get away, that fucking spiderweb is STILL on me 3 hours later.
But anyways, I like tubing.
Wall-E
Posted in Review with tags pixar, wall-e on June 28, 2008 by everestwuWarning – I’m going to give up any sort of manliness in order to bring you the following message:
THIS MOVIE WAS SOOOOO CUTE! *bats eyes*
Seriously, it’s dumbfounding how they could make a robot so ridiculously cute, yet have a wonderful storyline that’s really quite dark and George Orwell-ish. Oh, and romantic too. Pixar is amazing.
The entire theatre, children and adults alike, laughed and cheered in unison throughout the entire movie, just to give you an idea.
PLEASE go see this movie. Well worth the money.
Score: 10/10.
P.S.: AND it’s rated G…for GAWESOME.
Colored Balls in Protest

This is definitely the most peaceful, unique, and artistic protest I’ve ever seen in my life. I really admire this guy.
Yeah, it did create more garbage, but it got international attention AND got the government to respond to it.
Goal achieved.
Pi
Posted in About Me, Just For Fun with tags pi, pi day on June 23, 2008 by everestwuOnce upon a time, when I was a 6th grader in a pre-algebra class, there hung a giant poster that had a LOT of digits of pi on it.
Being the bored young sap I was, sitting in a stupid math class, I did everything I could to occupy my time. I played calculator games, drew stupid pictures, did other homework, etc. Just anything I could to stay busy.
Then one day I looked at the poster and thought, “Hmm, everyone knows pi is 3.14, but I wonder if they know it’s 3.1415926535897…probably not.” And so, it began. I memorized it up to that point, but I couldn’t stop myself.
Over the next few days, I memorized 5 more digits. Then 5 more…I just kept going. It crept into my head. I would stare at the wall, bored out of my mind because my teacher (like 99% of the teachers I’ve had in my life) blew balls. BAM! More digits memorized.
By the end of my 6th grade year, I had memorized the entire poster. Yes, as a 12 year old boy, I memorized pi to the 74th decimal.
Now do your *facepalm* and we’ll move on.
Anyways, life went on, and I always figured that I would never be able to use this bit of knowledge.
Fast forward a few years to freshman year of college. On March 14th, the computer science department had a celebration called “Pi Day” (because the date is 3/14). Yes, nerdy. Once again, *facepalm* and move on.
Anyways, among the events held on that day, there was a pi reciting contest. “Hey! This is a good chance to win some free stuff!”…so I went to the event, went to the podium they had set up, recited my 74 decimals, and sat back down. One would think that I would win.
Nope. There was a guy who recited over 100. Apparently, he stayed up “all night” memorizing it so he could win. He was going to only do 50, but he ended up memorizing 100 for good measure.
(insert third *facepalm* here)
He ended up winning some little travel bag thing and some other random stuff. Since I got 2nd place, I won TWO whole freaking pies. Cherry and Peach. They were delicious.
The moral of the story: Memorizing digits of an infinitesimal number will feed you when you’re a poor college student.

Kung Fu Panda
Posted in Review with tags kung fu, kung fu panda, panda on June 19, 2008 by everestwuThis. Movie. ROCKED.
Firstly, I want to mention how many big name actors there are in this movie. They really only mention Jack Black, but there’s also Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, and Dustin Hoffman to name a few.
The Animation:
Dear god, the movie was as beautiful as could be. I saw no flaws anywhere, reflections and lighting were dumbfoundingly good, fur was ridiculously detailed, and the facial expressions were priceless. Well, it probably actually cost a lot of money, but you get my drift.
The Story:
As always, a cute story about a seemingly normal protagonist who discovers that if he believes in himself, he can do whatever he aims to do. Hey, you reuse what works, right?
The Intricacies:
You’ll probably catch on to this, but if you’ve watched DreamWorks movies, you’ll know there are a lot of deep messages throughout. For example, it touches on eating disorders (I don’t want to spoil anything, so I won’t get into too much detail about anything else).
The Rating:
10/10. If you don’t agree with me, fuck off. There is no other opinion allowed for Kung Fu Panda. This movie was hot fire. I think I’ll go watch it again.
P.S.: I hate you JC.
